Ukraine has announced its candidacy for the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for 2023-2025 and is expecting for the support of this initiative from international partners.
Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said this at an informal meeting of EU transport and energy ministers in Stockholm on February 27, the ministry's press service wrote on Telegram.

Galushchenko announced that Ukraine is putting forward its candidacy for the IAEA Board of Governors for 2023-2025 and called on the meeting participants to join the discussion of this issue and support the Ukrainian application.

Galushchenko also emphasized that Ukraine continues its course of integration into the European energy markets, as envisaged, in particular, in the project of Ukraine's Energy Strategy until 2050. The corresponding document prioritizes the development of nuclear generation and renewable energy sources, which will help decentralize the Ukrainian power system.

The Ukrainian energy minister thanked EU representatives for the 10th package of sanctions against Russia and emphasized the need not only to maintain pressure on the aggressor, but also to extend it to all spheres of the Russian energy sector, including the nuclear industry.

As reported, IAEA permanent missions started their work at all Ukrainian nuclear plants.

The Swedish government has decided to contribute almost $30 million to Ukraine Energy Support Fund.

This was announced by Energy Minister of Ukraine German Galushchenko following his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden Ebba Busch, Ukrinform reports with reference to the ministry's press service.

"Sweden will also allocate funds to support the IAEA mission, which works at all Ukrainian nuclear power plants. It is also important that observers have the opportunity to record the impact of Russian attacks on our energy system, as well as nuclear and radiation safety," Galushchenko said.

The minister added that Ukraine constantly receives from international partners both monetary aid and equipment that helps restore energy facilities after Russian attacks.
